In addition to sport, Telstar also ended the last football season ’24/’25 very successfully financially. The final touches have been put to the annual accounts and director Leon Annokkée states in our Telstar podcast ‘De Verlenging’ that the football club ends up “more than €300,000 in profit”. Annokkée is a guest in episode 3 with former captain Mitch Apau and reporter Stephan Brandhorst.
“We wrote excellent black figures last season. This season we are going to create multiple numbers of those,” promises Annokkée.

The general manager says that he has been working with Telstar seven days a week in recent months. The return to the Premier League after 47 years resulted in enormous extra work. “It has now calmed down a bit. We have gone from working seven to six days.”
In the podcast he also answers questions about the accommodation. For example, the Velsen club installed two temporary stands during the summer period that can remain in place for two years. Annokkée: “In the meantime, we have to think carefully about what we really want to achieve there. We will also use the coming months to establish the club as a whole a number of years down the road. If you play in the Premier League for another year, it will increase your possibilities.”
Career switch
The podcast also discusses Mitch Apau’s faith and his transition from the field to a place off the field. Last season’s captain shadows technical director Peter Hofstede a few days a week.

The strength of trainer Anthony Correia is also discussed. “He is a very suitable trainer for these times,” says Apau. “Intensity is his strength. Football was very different ten years ago. You almost have to be an athlete to compete at the highest level.”
2000 guilders
The ‘Typical Telstar’ section features the most successful cup season in club history. “Telstar has offered the players 2,000 guilders (900 euros, ed.) to reach the final,” says Telstar historian Lon Weijers of the semi-final that his club played against Roda JC in the early 1990s.
The ’63 seconds’ section is new. In just over a minute, Telstar’s Tyrese Noslin is asked a barrage of questions that he has to respond to quickly. You will hear this and much more in De Verlenging.
