Telstar dares to take on injured Yaël Liesdek and gives him a new contract

He is currently still injured, but Yaël Liesdek has signed a new contract with Telstar. The right back, who has been plagued by injuries in recent years, is fixed in Velsen-Zuid until mid-2024.

“Yaël was seriously injured late last season. After previous injuries during his time at Telstar, a huge setback for the player and club at that time,” says technical manager Peter Hofstede in a press release from the club. “Since then, Yaël has been working diligently on his recovery. We support him in this process and extend his contract until the end of the current season.”

Liesdek’s expiring contract was initially not extended by Telstar. Last season he was injured in the away match against ADO Den Haag. Towards the end of the season, Hofstede was clear. “He will not be available for the coming months, he has an injury history, so we have to show ourselves to be a good employer.”

Liesdek joined Telstar in the summer of 2020, which took it away from De Volewijckers. He initially joined the Under 21s, but his debut in the first team soon followed. In three seasons, Liesdek played 53 games in the main squad of De Witte Leeuwen.

Telstar will visit NAC Breda on Friday evening. The White Lions are currently eighteenth in the first division. The match in Breda can be followed live on NH Radio.
