According to the OM, De Veke already started in 2023 with a fight at a festival, after which the violence quickly escalated with explosions, abductions and stabbing.
On 12 February the two groups met again at the Purmerend train station for a ‘one-to-one fight’ without weapons, but it got completely out of hand. The one group still shot and stabbed. A 19-year-old man from Purmerend did not survive, a peer from Medemblik was seriously injured.
Clean and hide weapons
A large -scale police investigation began after death. A total of ten young people were arrested. Four of them, including the alleged shooter, will appear in court this fall. The rest of the minor group, some only 13 or 15 years old at the time, stood in court this month for removing a knife and firearm used by the murder.
The telephone conversations and chats of seized telephones show that they knew they were dealing with, the court judges. They were asked to clean and hide the weapons for the police, and did that.
Then they mostly kept their mouths shut during the police investigation. The used firearm has not been found to date.
“These children prefer to help killers go freely than to do the right thing,” said the public prosecutor. “That says a lot about their conscience and mentality. That is very bad.”
Assault and abuse conductor
The suspects, who were 13 and 15 at the time, not only had to answer for the elimination of weapons after the shooting at the station, but also for a series of other offenses. This includes assault, a street robbery, a burglary, and threatening and spitting a tram conductor and an agent.
