The US fashion and media group Authentic Brands Group LLC (ABG) introduced a new distribution partner for its Ted Baker brand in South Africa on Tuesday. Accordingly, the local trading company Ares Holdings is taking over the distribution of the label.
The collaboration has already borne initial fruit. New Ted Baker stores have opened in Cape Town and Johannesburg. This is an “important milestone” in the strategy to expand the brand’s global presence, said Authentic Brands Group. Things haven’t been going so well in Europe lately: Ted Baker’s stores had to be closed in numerous important markets. The British home market was also affected.
The new partner Ares Holdings (Pty) Ltd has extensive experience with well-known international brands in the textile and footwear sectors. Founded in 2015, the company is already the distribution partner of Birkenstock, Vans, Under Armour, Crocs and Heydude for the South African market.
