Surprising statements from the father
Elon Musk would apparently like to buy Liverpool FC

Will Liverpool FC soon have a new owner? Elon Musk is said to be interested in the top English club. At least that’s what his father says.
Since October 2010, Liverpool FC has belonged to the Fenway Sports Group, a US sports marketing company. But that could possibly change soon. Tech billionaire and X owner Elon Musk is said to be interested in the Premier League leader. At least that’s what his father Errol Musk claims.
In an interview with Times Radio, the 79-year-old South African spoke about the rumor that his son Elon could join the Reds. Presenter Kait Borsay asked him: “Does your son want to buy Liverpool FC?”
Errol Musk initially reacted with a laugh. “I can’t comment on that,” he said, adding jokingly: “They will raise the price.”
Borsay then asked whether Elon Musk had at least expressed a desire to buy Liverpool FC. Errol Musk made it clear: “Oh yes. But that doesn’t mean he will buy it. We’ll see.”
That still wasn’t enough for Borsay. She pressed further: “But he has his eye on it?” Errol Musk then made it clear: “He would like to, of course.” The former engineer then said: “Everyone would like to, including me.”
It therefore remains to be seen whether the takeover will actually take place in the end. Exciting, however: Errol Musk also stated in the conversation with Borsay that the Musk family was connected to Liverpool. He explained that they have relatives in the northern English city.
A takeover of Liverpool FC would certainly not be cheap, even if the self-confessed Trump supporter Elon Musk is considered the richest person on the planet. Liverpool FC is one of the world’s largest football clubs. The value of Jürgen Klopp’s long-standing club was estimated by the business magazine “Forbes” in May 2024 at 5.37 billion US dollars (the equivalent of around 5.18 billion euros).
