The proclamation of Pedro Sánchez as President of the Government by the President of Congress, Francina Armengol, has occurred with the support of 179 deputies.
There were no surprises but, even so, the result of the recount has been received with applause by those who have supported the socialist candidate, silence by those who occupied the PP and Vox benches and tears of emotion for the wife of the PSOE leader, Begoña Gómez, who from her position in the guest box wanted to accompany her husband at this moment.

Along with Begoña Gómez was also Magdalena Pérez-Castejón, mother of the President of the Government.
Gómez, a 48-year-old native of Bilbao, has been with Pedro Sánchez for more than a quarter of a century, with whom she has two daughters, Carlota and Ainhoa, aged 18 and 16.
