“We started with that once. We were very afraid that the concept would not catch on,” says owner Bert Boer, “We had to hold up our pants. So we also started with the Dutch menu. We had an uitsmijster or a croquette sandwich.”

According to Bert, they soon discovered at Tea Time that people preferred to come for the typical English food. The croquette was on the menu one year. Since then, only English has been served.

That was actually an idea of ​​him and his then partner a few years earlier. Boer still lived in England at the time.

But they didn’t feel like working in the evenings. So they came up with the idea of… tearoom to start. “To start that in England is not very original. With my Dutch background, we then went to the Netherlands.”
