A 35-year-old man has been given a TBS with conditions for stabbing his supervisor in a care institution in Emmen. On November 20 last year, he stabbed the victim in the neck, neck and head with a knife.

The man was in a psychosis. Although it could have ended fatally, the judge cannot be blamed for the act.

The attack on the supervisor came completely out of the blue. The man immediately struck after opening the door for the employee. “He attacked me like a woodpecker,” the victim said later. He was held by his collar. A piece of metal from the knife remained lodged in his skull. Since then the man has suffered from severe headaches.

The suspect has been diagnosed with an intellectual disability and schizophrenia. Intensive treatment and guidance is necessary to prevent recurrence. A TBS measure without compulsory treatment is sufficient, the judge believes. In addition, the suspect has been banned from contact with the victim.
