The top artists were evaluated using the “Billboard 200” album charts and the “Billboard Hot 100” song charts. The time period chosen was the beginning of 2000 and the end of 2024. The fact that Taylor Swift was able to reach first place among the top artists of the 21st century using such calculations is actually a bit surprising, because her debut single The first one that could be counted in was her 2006 track “Tim McGraw”.
But things went up steeply from there: The 35-year-old had 14 number-one albums in the “Billboard 200” charts, which puts her past all female artists in the “Billboard” bill. Plus: Twelve of her songs made it to first place on the “Hot 100” charts.
