There are currently problems logging into Targobank. The reason for this is a hacker attack. Numerous online banking accounts were blocked as a result. What customers need to know now.

Targobank is currently the victim of a hacker attack. The problem has existed for several days, as a spokesman for Targobank confirmed to TECHBOOK. There is good and bad news for customers.

Targobank customers having problems logging in

Targobank customers have been reporting on “All disturbances” and “Disturbancelive“ about problems logging in. They were unable to log in via the app or the website. Some customers also failed to apply for a new password. The tech portal previously reported Heise about the hacker attack, which received letters from readers regarding the problem.

TECHBOOK asked Targobank whether sensitive customer data had been stolen. The company denied this and said: “Our bank’s security systems recognized this and prevented access.” Around 6,000 customers were affected by the hacker attack. It is actually more common for fraudsters to try to trick bank customers using various cunning tricks.

For some Targobank customers, for example, the password or access data were suddenly invalid when logging in. Many customers not only complained about the login problem, but also about the fact that Targobank had not published any official report or information. Customer service was also either constantly busy or unavailable.

That depends on the customers

If you look at the “trouble pages”, it quickly becomes clear that almost all users had problems logging in. Targobank says that access to online banking and the app is currently restricted for the affected customers.

In order to ensure the highest possible security, it is necessary to create new access data for customers. The bank is therefore in contact with the people affected in order to solve the problem as quickly as possible. Accordingly, customers would receive the new access data by mail.

According to Targobank, the hacker attack probably took place on November 4th. Criminals wanted to gain access to various accounts, but ultimately failed. It is not yet known when exactly the affected customers can expect a smooth process or login.
