Target amount for collection for sick teacher Tamara reached: “12,000 euros in a week, bizarre!”

The sick teacher Tamara from Rijsenhout is going crazy: thanks to hundreds of generous donations, she will soon be able to purchase the coveted, but very expensive device that will greatly relieve her pain.

It concerns the so-called Deep Oscillation Evident, a device that uses vibrations to open her vascular valves and expel excess fluid. She already noticed the benefits of the device during treatment in the United States, but it cost 12,000 euros to get one at home.

That amount was raised within a week through a fundraising campaign started by her aunt Yvonne. “Extremely fast and completely overwhelmed by what you have done. Achieving this goal within one week is bizarre,” Tamara exults. on the website.

She is therefore very grateful that her aunt ‘dared to take the first step’. “I’m living in some kind of dream right now. Don’t wake me up for a while….”

Target adjusted

Because the target amount was reached so quickly, the two have decided to extend the fundraising campaign. The target of 12,000 euros has been adjusted to 20,000 euros. “Our goal is to raise another 8,000 euros. But not for me anymore… or at least not for me alone. Now also for all the other fighters.”

Tamara is referring to other people with the autoimmune disease systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), an autoimmune disease about which little is known. However, the teacher at De Wilgenhoek primary school in Haarlem has found words to explain to her students what she is suffering from.

Soldiers

“I always explain it to my children like this,” she told NH Nieuws last week. “You all have soldiers in your blood. Normally they attack the bad guys, such as viruses and bacteria, but now they also attack the good soldiers. That makes me sick.”
