Tapio Suominen has talked openly about his bipolar disorder.

Media personality Tapio Suominen says that he got out of the psychiatric ward after two and a half weeks of treatment. Suominen ended up in the department because of his bipolar disorder.

Suominen gave the latest situation update on his Twitter account.

– The papers are in order, and my doctor Meelis signed out. Well, what does “healthy” mean to me. Well, at least the fact that 8 x electricity worked and made the mind of its fellow trees balanced. Grateful that in Finland you can get help for mental troubles. Professional crowd, great appreciation, Suominen wrote on Twitter.

Suominen said that a little over two weeks ago, he ended up in the psychiatric department of the Kanta-Häme Central Hospital because his “mind was sinking”.

– I get electricity 3 times a week, I believe it will work again. I also believe that I will turn this around, this time too, Suominen wrote at the time.

The well-known media personality has otherwise been open about his illness. The disease was diagnosed at Suominen in 2012.

Suominen told Iltalehti in an interview in 2018 that electrotherapy treats symptoms during the depressive phase.

– This is an old form of treatment from a hundred years ago. I’ve asked all the treating doctors I’ve dealt with, and no one has been able to tell me what it actually does, Suominen said at the time.

Suominen received a lot of support and sympathy from his followers in the comments of his latest tweet.
