Tap for Michael van Gerwen: James Wade in Dublin already too strong in quarterfinals | Darts

With VideoThe Premier League Darts is tonight in the ever-enchanting Dublin. Michael van Gerwen, number two in the prestigious competition, had to deal with number three from the position James Wade in the first match of the evening and went down immediately: 5-6. The Englishman then also took the stage victory.

Wade and Van Gerwen started the game very well and found the triples very easy. In the initial phase, the Englishman was sharper on his doubles and thus managed to take a 1-3 lead. ‘Mighty Mike’ did not give in, however, and fought his way to 4-4. At 5-5, both darters received match darts, but where the Dutchman missed, ‘The Machine’ struck: 5-6.

,,I can only blame myself for tonight’s defeat”, responded Van Gerwen. ,,I had opportunities during the match, I felt great, but missed the decisive doubles. It’s great of James that he took his chances. I know something big is coming for me.”

Wade also continued his top form to the semi-finals, in which he defeated Gerwyn Price 6-1. Wade threw a fantastic average of 114.73. In the other semi-final, Michael Smith led 4-1, but leader Clayton stepped up to win the match 4-6.

In the final, Wade crowned his top form with the overall victory. It certainly didn’t go as smoothly as in the semi-finals, but Clayton left 5-5 to decide the game. Due to his victory, Wade now has 25 points, just like Van Gerwen, the leg balance of the Dutch number two is a lot better. Clayton remains the frontrunner.
