Shocking news from France: Handball goalkeeper Jemima Kabeya died completely surprisingly. The grief for them is great.
The French sports world is in shock: As the French first-class handball team announced Plan-de-Cuques on Tuesday morning, goalkeeper Jemima Kabeya is dead. According to the association, the player died on Monday. The association spoke of a “sudden death”. Kabeya was only 21 years old.
The French daily “Le Parisien” reports that the junior national player of the neighboring German country was admitted to a hospital in Marseille due to a “lightning-like illness”. This is said to have been bacterial meningitis, i.e. inflammation of the brain skin. This was apparently doomed by Kabeya.
Meanwhile, grief after the death of Kabeya is great. “In these painful moments, our thoughts are especially with their family, their parents, their brother and sister, but also with our players and our staff. We express our sincerely and support them in every respect,” said the club of the deceased in his statement. “The entire family of the Plan-de-Cuques handball club mourns and has to be ready with this terrible tragedy.”
Nodjialem Myaro, President of the French Women’s Handball League, meanwhile emphasized: “Jemima Kabeya was a respected, valued, promising and talented young player. Her tragic death plunges the entire handball family into mourning and our thoughts are with her parents in this painful time.” Also Dr. Hassan Moustafa, President of the International Handball Federation (IHF), expressed his condolences to the family, friends and team members in Kabeya in a statement by the association.
Kabeya started playing handball at Paris 92. At Plan-de-Cuques, she has been under contract since 2022. She had only extended her working paper there last year. In the current season she was one of the best goalkeepers in the French league. Your defense rate was 35.6 percent.
