Table tennis – Neu-Ulm with Ovtcharov first cup winner

The table tennis club from Neu-Ulm, which is only three years old, won the German Cup with its most prominent player.

The TTC Neu-Ulm with the Olympic bronze medalist Dimitrij Ovtcharov is the German table tennis cup winner for the first time. At the Final Four in front of a home crowd, the club, which was only founded in 2019, defeated record winners Borussia Düsseldorf around veteran star Timo Boll and European champion Dang Qiu 3-0 in the final.

Neu-Ulm succeeds 1. FC Saarbrücken, which the 27-time cup winner Düsseldorf defeated 3-0 in the semifinals. Neu-Ulm also kept a clean sheet in the semifinals that took place on the same day and defeated TTF Ochsenhausen 3-0.

Berlin Eastside wins the women’s title

Ovtcharov defeated Dang Qiu 3-0 in the final, and the Swedes Truls Möregardh scored against Boll (3-2) and Anton Källberg against Lin Yun-Ju (3-0).

In the women’s category, TTC Berlin Eastside secured the cup victory with Vice European Champion Nina Mittelham by beating TSV Langstadt 3-0.
