Tabakovic scores Hertha’s second three-pointer against Braunschweig

As of: September 18, 2023 00:00 a.m

Hertha BSC seems to be slowly arriving in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the basement duel against Eintracht Braunschweig, the Berliners celebrated their second win of the season, especially thanks to their accurate goalgetter Haris Tabakovic.

Hertha didn’t set off any football fireworks in the 3-0 (2-0) win against BTSV, but they had the guests, who had been passive for too long, under control. Thanks to the threesome, the Berliners climbed out of the relegation zone, while Braunschweig slipped into it.

Herthas Tabakovic scores and scores

In the first 20 minutes it was almost only Hertha who played, Braunschweig could hardly take a breath. Eintracht keeper Ron-Thorben Hoffmann prevented the team from falling behind several times against the striking Marten Winkler and Marton Dardai before he had to reach behind himself in the 29th minute. However, referee Marco Fritz overturned Tabakovic’s goal after the VAR reported that there had been an offside position in the way the goal was created.

A few minutes later, the Swiss goal-getter got his goal celebration: First Tabakovic failed with his header at Hoffmann, but then poked the rebound over the line from close range (38th minute). Two goal celebrations followed before the half-time whistle when Tabakovic safely pushed a penalty into the net (45th + 2). The VAR had intervened again beforehand, Braunschweig’s Sebastian Griesbeck had his hand on the ball.

Post Braunschweig, post Hertha

The Berliners started the second half with a supposedly reassuring 2-0, but they had already clearly demonstrated how to give back a lead against Magdeburg. And the Braunschweigers actually ensured a more open game, but were unlucky when Florian Krüger had a deflected shot at the post (52′). On the other side, Winkler followed suit and also hit the aluminum (54th).

And Tabakovic again

The decision was made by Tabakovic – who else – when he chased the ball from nine meters and a slightly acute angle into the high left corner (71′). It was the Swiss’s seventh goal of the season.

The Braunschweig team then ran out of steam and Hertha managed to win without any problems.
