Arrest warrant and oddworld break taboos: “Syndrome Stockholm” addresses drug addiction and street life in an unfiltered way. The music video hits the trend charts.
Arrest warrant is back and with full force. On January 16th, the German rapper released his second project with the producer duo oddworld, which can be heard and seen – the music video appeared on YouTube on January 15th at 8:00 p.m.
The Offenbacher has remained true to his newfound style since the release of the documentary “Babo – the Arrest Warrant Story” in October 2025, in which he came clean about his drug use and other demons of his past. “Syndrome Stockholm” is honest, raw and direct.
Spotlight on taboo topics
The two-minute song starts straight away with the hook: “Too much rock & roll, Syndrome Stockholm / Bitch, where to? / Have you been out to get some fabric? / Yes, that’s how we live on the block between high-rise buildings / The coke epidemic is breaking out, what’s going on people?”. The 40-year-old becomes specific in the first lines of the track. He addresses the life of the “street” on which he grew up in an unfiltered way.
In the first verse, the artist remains just as clear and graphic, he raps: “Blood sticks to the straw / from coke, crystal / He’s lying on the cold floor, overdose, death / social welfare office, minimum wage salary, that’s how we get old in the high-rise / electricity not paid, Diggi power outage”. A considerable part of the song is taken up by lines about drug use, addiction and poverty – a reality of life that often fades into the background. In this song, the rapper seems to have made it his mission to shine a spotlight on exactly these topics. The pun in the title of the song probably alludes to the psychological phenomenon Stockholm Syndrome. This treats emotional dependency in a non-self-determined and hopeless situation. The chosen song name suggests a connection to his decades-long cocaine addiction and his “street” roots.
Production supports the goal
The production by Düsseldorf-based Alexis Troy and Minhtendo from oddworld also underlines the harshness and brutality of the “street”. Right at the start of the song, metallic, dull hits combined with warning bells and trap beats underline the feelings of anger, desperation and inner conflict that have been put to paper. The track is energetic, rousing and loud – a cry from a rapper who evolves from the voice of the “street” to a rebel and does not shy away from exposing grievances.
Music video in the trend charts
Around 18 hours after its release, the music video by arrest warrant and oddworld is still in the trending music charts on the video platform. In eighth place, the clip – which visually complements the direct and graphic lyrics with a fight between the “street” and the police – receives consistently positive comments.
One user wrote: “One of the craziest instrumentals ever”, another turned to arrest warrant and the producer duo with a request: “Please make a whole album together: oddworld x Hafti”. The rapper wasn’t just missed by the younger generation during his break – one user shared in the comments section: “Even my grandma was happy that Hafti was back” followed by a red heart emoji.
Maybe the desire for more songs from arrest warrant and oddworld isn’t so far off. The three seem to work well together. The track “Dünya garip”, sung in Turkish, was released in November. Translated, the title means “The world is strange” – a leitmotif for the piece, which tells of homelessness, strangers and uprooting.
