Sylvie Meis considers her career more important than her private life. She does not associate with people who are bad for her career, says the veteran influencer. “That’s bad, but it’s true.”
She is already 47, but still so concerned with what the outside world thinks of her: Sylvie Meis. Now that everyone has a smartphone, she always keeps a neat appearance. “When I was single after a long marriage, it was very intense for me to notice that I couldn’t just do everything I wanted, because everyone had a phone call.”
‘I’m going to experience it!’
Sylvie found that very difficult, she says in the failed NPO series The Smell of Success. “I never really had a very extensive dating life before Rafael (van der Vaart, ed.). I did date and I did have a relationship, but not much, so when I got out of that marriage, I thought: oh, I’m going to experience that now, haha, I want that!”
But, she continues: “When you present major shows for RTL and you have major contracts, which require a lot of perfect image is attached to it, then it is difficult to date it and then think after three weeks: that is not it, I will continue! That’s what I would prefer to do, if I’m completely honest.”
Career choices
However, her love life is secondary to her career, Sylvie explains. “I will always — that’s bad, but it’s true — put my career choices above my private life. That’s true.”
She continues: “The moment I realize I’m with someone who would hurt my career, that’s the day I leave that person. I’ve worked too hard to be a danger to anyone out there.”
Aeroplane
What Sylvie thinks goes too far? “The only thing I don’t like is when I come from the toilet on the plane and I see people secretly holding their phone like that to film me. That’s the only moment I think: oh, this is really not nice.”
She concludes: “I ignore it because I heal it embarrassing.embarrassing find. Of course I could say something about it, but if I walked up to someone, that would be the moment they were still filming. I ignore it.”
