Gérard Depardieu has often come under fire for sexist comments – and was recently accused of sexual harassment and rape several times. Due to a new controversy, the Swiss television station RTS has announced that it will no longer broadcast films in which the actor plays a leading role.
Lawsuits for sexual harassment have so far had no consequences
In recent years, numerous women have accused the French actor of sexual assault. Including many of Depardieu’s colleagues, including Hélène Darras and Charlotte Arnould. So far, however, she and the other alleged victims have not been able to achieve much through their accusations and statements, and the 75-year-old denies all allegations.
His sympathy for Russian President Vladimir Putin was also condemned in many places, but this did not impress Gérard Depardieu. He has even had Russian citizenship for about ten years.

He recently caused another scandal that has consequences, at least on Swiss TV. He was part of a documentary and was seen traveling to North Korea. Even during this shoot, Depardieu didn’t mince his words and made inappropriate comments to a young translator. “I weigh 124 kilos, with an erection 126”, he explained to her. Later in the film, when a 10-year-old girl was shown on a horse, he again couldn’t contain himself and said: “When it gallops, she has an orgasm.” In his opinion, all riders were “sluts” – that riding would excite her.
The decision not to broadcast any more works by Depardieu was confirmed by ein representative of the French-language television RTS. He explained that this has been established following the latest revelations. They want to avoid the majority of the audience feeling offended by the actor’s presence due to recent events.
