Isabel Gose finished sixth in the 800m freestyle at the World Swimming Championships in Budapest. The woman from Magdeburg scored after 8:23.78 minutes.

The gold medal was secured once again by the outstanding Katie Ledecky from the USA, who had already won the previous four World Championships over this distance. In 8:08.04 minutes, she easily won ahead of Kiah Melverton from Australia and Italy’s Simona Quadarella.

It was Ledecky’s fourth World Championship gold in Budapest after individual victories in the 400 and 1500 meter freestyle and success in the 4×200 meter relay. Their advantage over second place was more than ten seconds.

Gose had also been in the finals of the 400 and 200 meter freestyle. She was the only European in fifth place in the 400-meter distance and eighth in the 200-meter race.
