Another swimming accident in Berlin!

A person was missing in the Spree between the Alt-Stralau peninsula and Treptower Park on Saturday evening.

According to initial information, a swimmer wanted to swim from the peninsula to Treptower Park around 9 p.m. Several eyewitnesses saw that the man is said to have gone under in the middle of the Spree. Two people who had tried to save him then had to be taken out of the water themselves.

So a large-scale search for a missing swimmer began again this summer. The fire brigade, the ASB, the DLRG and the DRK were on site with 40 forces – including lifeguards and a total of six divers. Four boats and a helicopter with a thermal imaging camera were used for this purpose.

Despite all efforts, the search had to be called off late on Saturday evening.

This week alone there were two bathing deaths in the Weißen See. A 26-year-old was found dead on Saturday.
