Six-time Grand Slam winner Iga Swiatek has presented a former coach of tennis legend Rafael Nadal as her new coach. The 24-year-old is now working with the Spaniard Francisco Roig, with whom she wants to celebrate success again.
“Welcome to the team, Francisco! I’m looking forward to this new chapter,” wrote the Polish woman on Instagram. The 58-year-old Roig was part of the coaching team of the 22-time Grand Slam winner Nadal from 2002 to 2022. In the past few months, Roig has worked with several professionals. The Spaniard was only hired by Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard at the beginning of March, after having looked after Briton Emma Raducanu until the beginning of the year.
Swiatek, for her part, separated from Wim Fissette on March 23 after her surprising first-round exit at the WTA tournament in Miami. Her triumph at the grass classic in Wimbledon occurred during her 18-month collaboration with the Belgian.
