Wendy van Hout, the sweetheart of Peter Gillis, says he has a lot of discrimination. That is why she is not taken seriously as a singer, she says. “It’s because of my appearance.”
If she hadn’t managed to conquer the heart from Campingboef Peter Gillis, then no one would have heard from D’r: Wendy van Hout. She is now trying to use her fame to get a career as a singer off the ground, but that doesn’t really work yet. Now she tries it again with a cover from 1974: a child without a mother.
A lot of heisa
Wendy does everything to become an A-star. “I have already forgotten that I have been on vacation, haha. It is busy again. I am full of gas at work. I not only perform, but I am also writing new music. The singing has become serious. I also think it is more and more. The bookings are now also going well,” she says on Party.
The stage is her natural habitat, she continues. And yet she was recently kept off the stage in Oegstgeest. “A lot of fuss has been made and because of that fuss, the municipality, the mayor, started to interfere and it was decided that Peter and I were not allowed to come.”
Granting
Is Wendy seen as a kind of gangster lief or something like that? “What I often encounter, actually continuously, is that my partner choice is a problem. I hurt that, it touches me. It is emotion now that I tell about it too.”
What does Peter think of it? “He says to me:” Don’t worry. Put over it. Let go. ” Yes, of course, they never have to call me more, that village will never ride to Oegstgeest.
But it hurts that the reason is my choice of partner. “
Discrimination
It is not because of her singing voice, according to Wendy. “My sound is getting better and better. I am proud of that. Like last year, I hope to get the chance again later this year to be on stage at the Mega Piratenfestijn in the Gelredome. What I hope is that I will be taken a bit more seriously as a singer.”
She continues: I think that is now allowed and that I earn that too. But I am also assessed on my appearance, discriminated against how I look like. People misleading things because, according to them, Peter is still in ‘a criminal’. Or it is: “you are with that rich.” It’s never good. “
