Tre Kronor World Champion Carl Klingberg suspected of match manipulation, Aftonbladet write.

At the end of September, the Swedish team Frölunda represented by Klingberg beat Rögle 8–2 in the SHL, and the result of that match is now under investigation.

Expressen’s according to Klingberg roared in an interview after the Rögle match that he wanted the match to end with exactly those numbers.

The Swedish striker knew that Frölunda’s famous fan “Sebbe Indian”, real name Sebastian Kjellberg, place an 8–2 result bet on each match. So he made a special request to his teammates in the last minute of the match.

– I have known Sebbe for probably 15 years. He is quite a legend and bets on an 8–2 result in all matches. I told the guys not to score any more goals, and Sebbe will win. Absolutely fantastic, I hope he won a lot of money, Klingberg said.

Kjellberg is said to have won 9,420 kroner from the Rögle game with a bet of 20 kroner. So he lost about 810 euros.

The Swedish Ice Hockey Federation is now investigating Klingberg’s trick as match manipulation. The result may be a long suspension from competition.

– If the investigation reveals abuses, the player will be reported to the disciplinary body, the SHL’s competition manager Magnus Mårtensson told Aftonbladet.
