Sweden currently has six reactors, which are mainly operated by government-owned energy company Vattenfall. Six have also been closed in recent years. Today the reactors account for 30 percent of the consumption.
Today, the power produced from nuclear power plants, hydropower and wind turbines already covers the electricity needs of the Swedes. But the demand for electricity will increase in the future, due to the electrification of society. From heavy industry to mobility, more and more is running on electricity instead of fossil fuels.
Today a government was also formed in Sweden. The conservative Moderate Union Party, the Christian Democrats and the Liberals will form a government and cooperate with the right-wing populist Swedish Democrats (SD).
