Series broken: After seven wins in seven games, SVG Lüneburg suffered its first setback in the Volleyball Bundesliga.
In a top-class top game against second-placed SWD powervolleys Düren, the Hanseatic city team lost surprisingly clearly with 0:3 (24:26, 19:25, 25:27). Coach Stefan Hübner’s team, which appeared unusually indisposed after the furious victory over the Berlin Recycling Volleys, failed to extend its lead in the table.
Düren takes over this instead: with 21 points, the Powervolleys overtook Lüneburg as the new leaders. Led by the outstanding Zac Hutcheson, they made amends after their first defeat of the season in Giesen. Düren played like he was unleashed, especially in the second half. Like Lüneburg, Christophe Acht’s team now has seven wins after eight games this season.
