Again Germany came away empty-handed at the Four Hills Tournament. Sven Hannawald doesn’t like that either. But he dislikes something else much more.

The German ski jumpers have been waiting for another overall victory at the Four Hills Tournament for years. This winter too, the hoped-for success failed to materialize – and a former champion has clear words for this.

Sven Hannawald expressed clear criticism after the end of the Four Hills Tournament. “I noticed again that it wasn’t possible for us Germans to ‘give more gas’,” said the 2002 tour winner in an interview with RTL/ntv and “sport.de”.

The German Ski Association team has been waiting for a German overall winner since Hannawald’s triumph in 2002.

The 51-year-old is particularly irritated by the reaction to setbacks. “I don’t see a lot of jumpers now who are angry or just vent because it’s just annoying that they somehow can’t manage it,” said Hannawald. “I don’t have the feeling that anyone is burning to move forward. And I think that’s a bit different from Austria.”

Hannawald expressly excluded Philipp Raimund from his criticism. The 25-year-old took eighth place overall on the tour. “He’s full of attack, you can see his ambition,” he said.
