Sven Botman is in the explicit interest of Newcastle United. However, his employer Lille has reportedly refused an initial offer of no less than 35 million for the footballer from Badhoevedorp.
Newcastle United has been in the hands of a wealthy investment fund from Saudi Arabia since October. The team from the north of England is currently in relegation danger and therefore wants to invest extra during this transfer period.
Offer rejected
For the defence, Newcastle has thus set its eye on Botman. The 22-year-old defender should become the second acquisition after Kieran Trippier. Botman’s employer Lille, however, does not want to hear about an interim departure and has therefore rejected an initial offer of 35 million. De Badhoevedorper also has a contract that will continue until the summer of 2025.
Botman exchanged Ajax for Lille a year and a half ago and in his first season in France immediately became a surprising national champion. In November 2020, Botman was also called up for the Dutch national team for the first time, but it has not yet come to a debut with Orange.
