Suzan & Freek have chosen to let their role as a duo coach in the Voice of Holland continue, even though she is pregnant and he is sick. “RTL 4 is going to stop the live shows.”
It is pretty unexpected: Suzan & Freek will make their appearance as a duo coach in the new season of The Voice of Holland. And that while she is pregnant and previously indicated that they were not sure whether he can still be at birth because of his illness: “At the end of this year we hope to welcome our child together.”
Pregnant and sick
If the recordings of The Voice start after the summer, how can that be combined with Suzan and her maternity leave? Pregnant women must leave at the latest four weeks before the calculated date with leave.
The situation around Freek is also uncertain. The Voice starts in January on RTL 4 and usually has seventeen episodes. That would mean that the final will be broadcast in mid -April, but how is Freek going?
No live shows
TV authority Tina Nijkamp states that the helm is dealing with The Voice. “There seem to be ‘live on tape’ shows instead of live shows after the auditions and interim rounds. No live shows this time. So Holland’s Got Talent has been doing it for many years (due to costs) and also The Tribute, Stars on Stage and The Headliner.”
She continues on her analysis canal: “This would therefore have the consequence that viewers cannot vote at home. That is for the first time for The Voice in the Netherlands. Final will probably be such a studio audience voice again. Hopefully they will come up with something better for that ‘public voice’.”
When recordings?
The recordings would be from September to mid -November, according to Tina. If Suzan is half or at the end of December, she could still be with all recordings. “Because of the lack of live shows, I also think a shorter season, for example 12 instead of 17 weeks.”
Tina does not think that the live shows have been canceled because of Suzan & Freek. “No, I don’t think this has been adjusted as a result of the situation of Suzan & Freek, but that this schedule has been there since the start. Don’t go live, it really saves a lot in terms of production budget.”
Stubbornly
It could also be that the recordings of The Voice were brought forward in consultation with Suzan & Freek, says Tina. “The recording data could also be very good: this month up to and including September. Rumors that the recordings will start this month have been there for a long time and pretty stubborn.”
Tina hoped that at least the final would be live, but, she writes: “Get the confirmation that the final is indeed definitely not live either. I still think it is a shame that as a viewer you can no longer vote for your favorite with any talent show. I always thought it was the power of it.”
Song festival
There will soon be almost no TV shows where the viewer can determine the winner at home, Tina concludes. “Only the Eurovision Songfestival remains where you can vote as a viewer, but then not on your own country/favorite) …”
She concludes: “Ps, this plan was there since the start of the comeback plans. Sounds think live is too expensive.”
