“A helicopter circled above the village for a long time, so I went to see what was going on,” says a Derper (a resident of Egmond aan Zee). “When I arrived at the beach I was giving someone a package to the police.”
The police confirm that several suspicious packages were indeed found on the beach of Egmond on Friday afternoon. The police have secured all packages and are examining the contents.
Anyone currently on the beach is asked by police to leave the area, a police spokesperson said. “People are not supposed to look for the packages themselves.” He emphasizes that people should call 112 as soon as they see a package.
