Police arrested two people In connection with the football match between HIFK and the Jokers on Tuesday. One of them is suspected of assault, the other was arrested for disorderly conduct.
The disturbances started even before the match, when HIFK supporters started their march before the time agreed with the police. The police prevented the HIFK and Joker supporters from meeting, but some of the HIFK supporters did not follow the police’s orders. The police used a projectile launcher and a gas atomizer to calm the situation.
According to the police, the match was mostly peaceful, although supporters of both teams used “pyrotechnic products” and provoked each other.
After the game, one man punched a passerby in the head. The man fled the scene, and the police caught him moments later. The case is being investigated as an assault. After the match, “the beginnings of a fight” also arose, in which the police intervened.
HIFK won the Finnish Cup match played in Oulunkylä with a score of 5–0.
