Suspected shooter (60) from Coevorden will be held for at least three months on suspicion of attempted manslaughter in Utrecht

The 60-year-old suspect from Coevorden who allegedly shot a man (40) in Coevorden will remain in pre-trial detention for at least another three months. This was determined by the council chamber of the court in Assen.

The shooting victim, a man from Utrecht, was seriously injured. According to a spokesperson, the Public Prosecution Service will not provide any information about his current condition for privacy reasons. The 13-year-old son of the shot victim was present at the shooting incident on October 1. The boy allegedly stabbed the alleged shooter.

The violence on a site at the Scholekster in Coevorden is said to arise from a conflict in the family atmosphere. In addition to the suspected shooter, two other Coevorden residents (38 and 40 years old) were also arrested after the incident. The 13-year-old boy has also been arrested. He was released fairly quickly, just like the two men. They are still suspects.

The shooting took place on the same industrial estate where heavily armed officers had raided more than three weeks earlier to find underground cannabis plantations. These were not found.
