The Russian Olympic team (ROC) has to wait for its gold medal in figure skating at the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. The award ceremony planned for Tuesday evening (08.02) for the team competition has been postponed due to an “unresolved legal issue”. This was confirmed by the International Olympic Committee.
IOC spokesman Mark Adams did not go into details on Wednesday because of possible “legal consequences”. According to information from “Inside the Games” and “The Guardian”, it is said to be a doping case in which no performance-enhancing substance was found.
The figure skating team of the Russian athletes had won the team competition despite a fall of the figure skating couple Anastasiya Mishina/Alexander Galljamov in the final freestyle.
