Suspect escapes from police bus Hoorn through roof hatch, arrested again after massive deployment

The police arrested a man around the Westfriese Parkweg in Hoorn this afternoon who managed to escape from a police van earlier that day. He would have taken off through the roof hatch of the police bus. After a massive search, the man was caught again.

A suspect escaped this afternoon in Hoorn during transport in a police van. The police confirm this to NH. “He actually broke loose while driving.” He would have crawled out of the bus through a roof hatch.

Great efforts were made at a meadow on the Westfriese Parkweg. Dogs, vans and a police helicopter, among other things, were needed to catch the suspect again.

He tried to get away through bushes and the water. Photos show that the man has been left unscathed.

Police spokesman

“The stakes were indeed considerable,” says a police spokesman. Many police cars, helicopters and dogs, an ambulance and a fire brigade were involved. “With good results, so that’s nice.” The suspect is now detained in the cell in Alkmaar.

The police state that it is being investigated how it could have happened that the man escaped from the police bus during transport. “We really need to – and will – investigate this.”

Police dogs, among others, were therefore used in the massive search.
