Suspect (72) arrested for violent death in Amstelvener (23) | Inland

A family member reported the missing man from Amstelveen on April 10, 2021. The last contact with him took place two days earlier in the evening. Then he seemed to have disappeared. For example, the man, a deliverer of (postal) parcels, did not show up at work. On April 12, 2021, the delivery van used by the Amstelvener was found in Amsterdam-North.

An investigation has shown that the victim was killed on Parelvisserslaan in Amstelveen, the police said. It also turned out that the man had been under surveillance for some time.

The 72-year-old suspect was arrested on April 26 this year in Leichlingen, Germany. He has both Israeli and Lithuanian nationality. The Netherlands has requested his surrender.

More people involved

Police suspect more people may have been involved in the case. The motive has not yet been determined, according to police. There may have been a conflict in the private sphere, but the investigation does not rule out other scenarios. The victim was not known to the police as someone who was involved in (serious) crime. Years before his death, he fled with his family from his native Syria. According to the police, his surroundings, such as employers and relatives, speak of a sweet and caring man, who always kept his agreements.
