“Do you feel the same?” If so, you are lucky. Susanna Hoffs has re-recorded her beloved Bangles ballad “Eternal Flame”.

The new version remains loyal to the original from 1988, which Hoffs wrote together with Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly and published on the third album “Everything” by The Bangles. Hoff’s singing still sparkles like back then. One could say “the sun is still shining through the rain”.

“I was inspired to sing it again!” Said Hoffs in an explanation. “When I stood in front of the microphone, I struggled with the tears of gratitude. Gratitude for the opportunity to sing a song that I loved and appreciated my whole adult life. We grew up together!”

She added: “I am repeatedly touched by the stories of friends and strangers who tell me how much” Eternal Flame ‘meant that the song was played at their wedding when they stepped into the wedding altar. Or that it donated comfort to them. I still wake up every morning. And I am motivated to sing, write and get away with others. The same girl with the same feelings.

On April 9th, Hoffs will publish a version of “Eternal Flame” with the chamber ensemble YMUSIC and has confirmed that a new album will be released in autumn.

The new admission of “Eternal Flame” follows Hoffs’ appearance in Carnegie Hall last week when she appeared at the Patti-Smith tribute concert “People Have the Power: A Celebration of Patti Smith”. Hoffs provided an excellent interpretation of “Kimberly,” from the legendary album “Horse” s of the rocker from 1975.

Hoffs’ last solo album was “The Lost Record” from 2024. A year earlier, she published her debut novel “This Bird Has Flown”, which was acquired for a film.
