BERLIN (dpa-AFX) – A clear majority of consumers in Germany save on energy and daily shopping. Seven out of ten respondents (70 percent) state that they are already using less energy in order to reduce costs, according to a survey by Infratest dimap for the ARD Germany trend. In April of this year it was still 64 percent.

The survey distinguishes between financially strong and financially weak households. Around two thirds (66 percent) of those surveyed with a rather low income (household income up to 1500 euros per month) say they shop less in everyday life. Only about half of those surveyed with a middle income (household income 1,500 to 3,500 euros per month) do this. In contrast, there were no major differences between the income groups when it came to reducing energy consumption during the survey period./svv/DP/nas
