In a message (06.05.25) of his team Ineos-Grenadier, the five-time stage winner of the Tour de France surprisingly explained his farewell from professional cycling. The 30-year-old gives different reasons.

“My last two seasons, especially the second half of 2024, have significantly damaged my relationship with this sport,” said the Australian his decision: “In the eleven years of my career, I achieved more than I could have imagined. What meant everything in the past, but no longer has the same value today.”

The 30-year-old had dared to restart at Ineos-Grenadier after a career low for the new season and seemed to be back to old strength there. “They gave me space, trust and the surroundings to recognize what I am capable of,” the sprinter wrote about his last employer: “I won again. I felt like I myself and felt respected again.”

Ewan was a cycling professional for eleven years and scored a total of 65 victories, mostly in the mass sprint. In addition to the five tour stages, he also won five stages at Giro d’Italia and one at Vuelta a España, as well as the Hamburg Cyclassics in 2016. The Australian celebrated his last stage victory in April on the Basque Country Routing.
