A decision on a new stadium will not be made immediately
And another important moment for Club Brugge, but in the stadium dossier that – as you know – has been going on for almost 20 years. The Council for Permit Disputes today dealt with the appeal of several local residents, after the Council of State previously rejected their objections. But a decision for a new stadium does not seem imminent.
“Today it is the pleas that are taking place,” says Club Brugge chairman Bart Verhaeghe. “These pleas will proceed serenely and probably all well. And then the Council will have time – normally 60 days, which can be longer or shorter, it is at their discretion – to make a judgment. And only then will we know where we stand with the stadium file. But I have every confidence in the proper functioning of the Council and that they will do so judiciously and expertly. We are very calm about that.”
– What is your hope as chairman of Club Brugge that the green light will be given?
“We are just calm, serene. Waiting and waiting to see what happens. We are just going,” concludes Bart Verhaeghe.
