The Darts World Cup is becoming more surprising by the day. The 22-year-old Gian van Veen – the Dutch talent from whom much was expected – was eliminated in the second round on Monday evening by the German Ricardo Pietreczko. The biggest surprises of the evening were yet to come. Later, numbers 6 and 5 in the world were eliminated with Dave Chisnall and Rob Cross. As a result, 14 of the 32 seeded players are now out of the tournament. A record.
