Supporters’ association finances FC Emmen training camp

The training camp that FC Emmen organizes in January in preparation for the second half of the season is paid for by the supporters’ association. The club announced this today.

In previous years, FC Emmen regularly traveled to Spain, but this year the club is going to Oisterwijk in Brabant. Because the club doesn’t actually have the money for that, SV Rood Wit is taking the plunge. “We would like to reach the top together. That is why the Rood Wit supporters’ association is giving this training camp as a gift to the club, as an extra push towards the highest possible goals,” says chairman Erwin Bakker.

Trainer Fred Grim is happy with the support. “I think it is important that we take a break with the team after the winter break, to regain that real team feeling and dynamics as quickly as possible.”

That good team feeling has been missing from the first division player for a while. Last Friday the club lost 1-0 to Roda JC. It was the third loss in a row. In the weeks before, Emmen gave away a 2-1 lead against FC Eindhoven just before the end and also lost to Willem II (3-0). Emmen is now fifth and has six points less than number two Roda JC. The gap is now ten points compared to leader Willem II. Numbers one and two are promoted directly to the Premier League at the end of the season.

FC Emmen is taking a short break, from January 3 to January 5. The team is staying at Landgoed de Rosep, near Tilburg. The three days end with a practice match against De Graafschap.
