Dutch 1st Football League (Eredivisie) team Fortuna Sittard entered the league fight they played with FC Emmen with jerseys containing the Giro555 donation campaign launched by the Dutch Red Cross for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.
The campaign launched for the victims of the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes, which is called the “disaster of the century”, took place on the chest of Fortuna Sittard’s jerseys in the match against FC Emmen, which also includes national football players Burak Yılmaz and Oğuzhan Özyakup.
In the statement made by the Dutch club, it was stated that the jerseys worn in the match will be sold at auction and the income will be donated to those who suffered from the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş.

A minute’s silence was held before the start of the match for those who lost their lives in the earthquake. It was seen that Burak Yılmaz could not hold back his tears. Oğuzhan Özyakup, who scored the only lake of the match in the 76th minute, came to the side and showed the t-shirt with the inscription “Pray for Turkey” to the stands.
Özyakup, who made a statement at the end of the match, stated that they were sad even though they won the match and said, “Get well soon to our nation. It is a very difficult situation, we cannot even imagine what they are feeling. May Allah give us patience. Our condolences.” said.

Team captain Burak Yılmaz stated that he thanked everyone in the Netherlands and said, “They helped us a lot, they always made us feel that they are with us both with their campaign and with the messages they sent.” he said.
Explaining that he contacted Hatayspor Technical Director Volkan Demirel after the earthquake, Yılmaz said, “I felt bad when I heard Volkan brother’s voice. We will overcome this. We will become one. We will hold on to each other, we will help, we will overcome this.” said.
Stating that the aid to disaster areas all over Turkey is very important, Yılmaz said, “It has become a port where we took shelter in the face of evil, where everyone supports each other. If we can be united when such great disasters happen, when such bad things happen to us, we should always be one, so We shouldn’t wait for things to come.” he said.

Transferring from Gaziantepspor to Fortuna Sittard at the beginning of the 2022-2023 season, Doğan Erdoğan stated that he could not think of any matches during the week and said, “Thank God, I talked to everyone and all my friends, but even though I don’t know them, people who die are also our people. Football is a game at the end of the day, the realities of life are different. This reminded us of the realities of life in a bitter way.” he said.
Noting that his club called for support for the Giro555 donation campaign, Erdoğan pointed out that the jerseys worn during the match will also be put up for sale and the proceeds will be spent on earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria.
