Artemi Panarin was left out of the Rangers lineup last night.
New York Rangers’ number one star Artemi Panarin was not included in his team’s lineup for last night’s local game against the New York Islanders.
The Islanders won the game 5–2.
NHL reporter by Dan Rosen according to the Russian striker is not expected to play again in a Rangers shirt before the Olympics. This means the team is close to making a huge trade for their superstar and protecting him from injury.
Panarini’s contract expires next summer, and the tactician was informed that the club would not offer him an extension.
– The team decided to go in a different direction. That’s fine with me, Panarin said recently.
The Rangers are in last place in the Eastern Conference, and the club announced to its fans that it will reshape the team with a big hand. According to them, it is still not about a new building.
In his current contract, the winger has “full no-movement clause” meaning he cannot be traded to another club without the player’s own consent. In practice, therefore, Panarin can decide himself where he will move to, if he agrees to move at all.
The virtuoso conker has scored 19+38=57 in 52 matches this season. In his best season (2023–2024), Panarin scored 120 points in 82 games.
Panarin’s current contract takes $11.6 million off the salary cap. The man has been taken to at least Florida and Washington in transfer rumors.
The NHL’s transfer window closes this year on March 6, but the league has a transfer ban during the Olympics, which comes into effect on February 4.
