Basketball superstar LeBron James will also celebrate his 41st birthday as a NBA player.
The most successful thrower in the history of the best league in the world draws his player option over $ 52.6 million (45 million euros) and will therefore also work for the Los Angeles Lakers in the coming season. James is the first player in the story to go into his 23rd NBA season.
As his agent Rich Paul explained to “Espn”, James, who turns 41 at the end of December, takes the Lakers duty. “LeBron wants to play for the championship. He knows that the Lakers are in the renovation, but is worth a realistic opportunity to win the title,” said Paul.
The Lakers had signed the Slovenian top star Luka Doncic in a spectacular trade last season, but the team is now missing the depth and, above all, a strong center. However, the salary limits indicate that the traditional franchise has no realistic chance of committing another star.
James had become champions four times with three different teams, most recently with the Lakers in 2020. After the first round in the play-offs of the past season against Minnesota, he had left his future open.
