Superalloy? Needless to insist, even the fans said no

The redistribution of revenues must respect a sustainable model at any level, an elite cannot be conceived that takes care of the obstinate protection of its exclusive interests

Here we go again. We thought that the Superlega, conceived and dismantled within a couple of days a year ago, had been dismissed as a clumsy invention. But no: the competition, banned last year after the protests in the square by the fans of all the clubs, is revived. An attempt is made to bring back through the window what had been slammed outside the main door, complete with threats and sanctions. At all levels it was reiterated that national tournaments cannot be reduced to side events in the already crowded calendars. Let’s assume that the Champions League, with many more matches in the groups, will become richer, but also more invasive.

opposition

The overwhelming majority of the clubs and the public expressed their clear opposition to the Superlega, so it would be better not to insist. Football must find new economic resources with the involvement of all components. The football of the future needs to rest on a broader and more solid basis: the redistribution of revenues must respect a sustainable model at any level, an elite cannot be conceived that takes care of the obstinate protection of its exclusive interests. Let’s forget about the Super League, once and for all.
