For a long time, the victory on the infamous “Stelvio” was a close race, but then dominator Marco Odermatt pulverized the times of the Super-G competition. The Swiss, who was the surprise winner in Bormio on Thursday Cyprien Sarrazin had to admit defeat, drove away from everyone on the icy and undulating track in the last race of the year.

Kriechmayr and Kilde have no chance against Odermatt

The Austrian Raphael Haaser and Norway’s ski star Aleksander Aamodt Kilde in second and third place were over a second behind Odermatt. Vincent Kriechmayr, the only Super-G winner of the season, also had to give in in fourth place.

“It’s crazy!”said ARD expert Felix Neureuther live-Comment on the Swiss’s performance, which took his lead in the overall worldcup expanded. Odermatt had won all three giant slalom races of the winter so far, and now he is celebrating his first victory in the speed-Competition.

DSV team disappointed – Sander struggles with his condition

The best German was Simon Jocher in 21st place (+2.64s). Andreas Sander (+3.68s) and Romend Baumann (+4.29s) were even more behind – even though the course had been set by discipline coach Andreas Evers. The two DSV athletes ended up in 35th and 40th place. Josef Ferstl was eliminated early.

Sander, vice world champion in 2021, was unable to build on his solid performance in the downhill (19th place) and subsequently struggled with his condition. The Allgäu native had a serious fall during training in Val Gardena two weeks ago and has been struggling with hip problems ever since.

“I’ve missed all the training since we’ve been in Europe. I need the confidence from training, so we have to find a plan now.” Romed Baumann, who had already gotten stuck at the first goal the day before, even ended up behind Sander. Thomas Dreßen, who missed both races in Bormio due to a virus infection, was not at the start.

Next serious fall: Innenhofer transported away

Like on Thursday there was a serious fall. Christof Innerhofer lost control in a left-hand bend and slid into the safety fences with full force. The Italian was bleeding from the face and was flown to hospital by helicopter. On Thursday, the Austrian Marco Schwarz tore his cruciate ligament. Innerhofer is also suspected of having a knee injury.
