High temperatures in summer tempt you to spend the day outside, whether at the stand, the lake or on your own balcony. But of course one should not be missing in a digital world: the smartphone. However, the problem here is the heat sensitivity of the devices.

Heat harms the devices

According to the news portal of the Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), overheating the smartphone or other devices can destroy a variety of components. In addition to components such as the battery or the display, the processor can also break, for example, according to the portal. In direct sunlight and thus strong heat, the battery loses power or the device is no longer operational. With direct sunlight, smartphones & Co. can quickly overheat, which is why it can be helpful to consider the following things.

Do not keep the devices in the freezer or refrigerator

In order not to add the devices to the devices, the charging should be waited until the device is cool again. But be careful of self -induced cooling processes: According to the online magazine GMX, the smartphone should not be placed in the fridge. The online intelligence service Netzwelt explains that the temperature change can result in condensation that is stuck in sensitive areas and is therefore harmful to the device. The Portal Chip also advises against an intermediate storage in the refrigerator or freezer. In addition, it is also recommended not to switch on the device again if it has already assumed in the sense of self -protection. If the smartphone does not have this protective function, it is still advisable to switch off the device because there are additional heat during operation within the device. According to the chip, the flight mode can also be used to protect the battery.

Avoid excessive use

As already indicated, a lot of computing power is required for the use of devices – depending on the type of use – that in turn generates heat. Therefore, according to the NDR, it is advisable to do without certain applications. Games and long videos in particular need a lot of performance and burden both the processor and battery. According to the North Rhine-Westphalia Consumer Center, Apple even warns of operating iPhones at temperatures above 35 degrees.

Avoid cell phone covers from silicone

Thick cell phone cases made of silicone or neoprene caps the air circulation of the devices, since no fan is no longer installed in smartphones. So heat is released over the housing, according to the Portal Netzwelt. Therefore, additional heat is created in the device that cannot be removed. Instead, there are, for example, cell phone covers that have a cooling effect.

Do not leave the devices in the car

According to the NDR, interior temperatures of over 50 degrees are already in the blazing sun after a short time, which is why devices quickly overheat. The devices heat up quickly on the dashboard or other dark surfaces as well as behind glass panes.

The “h” in cell phone stands for dogs

A small anecdote of the Netzwelt portal contains a simple rule of thumb that serves to prevent overheated end devices: “Treat gadgets like a ‘pet'”. If you consider that you would not let your dog wait in the overheated car or let it run around on hot summer days, some parallels show up to the tips mentioned.
