The North Holland meeting between AFC and Koninklijke HFC has proven to be a prey for the visitors from Haarlem. At Goed Genoeg sports park in Amsterdam, despite a huge blunder by HFC goalkeeper Mitchel Michaelis, the score was 1-2 for the visitors.

Royal HFC had not won the last four league matches and knew that it would traditionally have a tough match when it visited AFC. The team of coach Dennis van den IJssel therefore played solid and compact in the first half hour and was looking for an opportunity.

Crossing

That chance came after almost half an hour of play. Cas Dijkstra shot the ball wonderfully into the intersection, allowing HFC to go into halftime with a lead. After tea, however, things went completely wrong for goalkeeper Mitchel Michaelis. The 33-year-old closing post blundered with a simple back pass. Thanks to the gift, AFC was back on level terms very soon after half-time.

AFC gained the upper hand after the equalizer, but was unable to convert this into a goal. Fifteen minutes before the end, the ball did fall in at the other end. HFC striker Delano Ladan ensured that the three points went back to Haarlem with a hard bang in the far corner.

Home games

AFC, which took three points in the previous round when it visited VV Katwijk, again lost points in a home match. After ten games, Chedric Seedorf’s team has now collected more points in away games than on their own field in Amsterdam.

Due to the victory of Kon. HFC, the team rises to tenth place in the second division rankings. AFC actually drops to place 8.

RKAV Volendam, the third North Holland team in the second division, lost 2-1 to leader HHC Hardenberg. We find Volendam in the penultimate place.
