Shortly after, Dominik Szobolszlai tried with a strong shot from outside the area that went to the body of goalkeeper Alex Meyer, and in minute 7 Nkunku was able to score, but, after getting rid of Emre Can inside the area, he finished off badly.

After twenty dizzying minutes, with great intensity on the part of both teams, the game calmed down a bit. Dortmund seemed to withdraw to defend in an orderly fashion and leave the ball to Leipzig, who in minute 35 had a great chance at the feet of Marcel Halstenberg to cross from Emile Forsberg.

At 36′ there was another compromising situation for Dortmund when Szoboszlai got across in an attempt to clear from Meyer. The ball bounced off him and went wide. However, although Leipzig seemed to control the game, Dortmund got the second goal before the break.

In one of his few advances in that phase there was a foul on the left wing. Brandt’s shot was cleared by the Leipzig defense, but the rebound went to Can, who scored with a shot from the crescent in the 39th minute..
