Successor to Kroos: Roland Vrabec becomes coach at Greifswalder FC

For the coming season

Roland Vrabec will take over the coaching position at Greifswalder FC for the 2023/24 season. The 48-year-old, who coached FC St. Pauli in the 2nd Bundesliga between 2013 and 2014 and has worked abroad for the last five years – most recently at Esbjerg fB in Denmark – succeeds team boss Roland Kroos. The father of Toni and Felix Kroos will not extend his expiring contract with the promoted regional league.

“I definitely wanted to work in Germany again and I knew about the goals and ambitions of the club through Dave (David Wagner, Sporting Director; ed.) and my advisor. That sounded very, very exciting to me. We want to lead the club over the next two to three years so that it is within reach for everyone in the Northeast Regional League and throughout Germany. But of course we want to let the club grow with it, create structures and infrastructure, increase awareness and give the whole thing a face,” said Vrabec.
